Miranda July’s New Web Site…and Book

April 8, 2007

Miranda July is one of those people that, it seems to me, lives their art. I’ve never met her, so I can’t say that with certainty, but every experience I’ve had with her work has led me to that belief. The first time I heard of Ms. July (or is it Mrs.?) was on IQU’s K Records release, Teenage Dream, and if you haven’t seen her movie Me And You And Everyone We Know you should do.

Anyway, she has a new book out called No One Belongs Here More Than You and a new web site to accompany it. I haven’t read the book, but web site is beautiful in its painstaking simplicity. The life of an interactive designer is a constant consideration of how to engage the audience with content and informative interactive cues to guide them on their path. However, sometimes it’s nice to give the reigns over to the communicator and just let someone guide your experience and tell you a story. Such is the case with this experience. Do yourself a favor and live in her head for a while.
