Hidden Agenda : A Salvage Yard for Erin Kurtz : The Monster Has A Name: Crestwood.

The Monster Has A Name: Crestwood.

April 29, 2007

Yesterday, I took my frankenguitar to The 12th Fret on Belmont to get some advice on the rebuild and a quote on re-fretting the neck. Up until yesterday, I didn’t know much about the guitar other than it was a late-70’s Epiphone. The kind folk at the 12th Fret identified the guitar as an Epiphone Crestwood, finally it has a name. After much discussion, I decided to leave the guitar rebuild project in the skillful hands of the 12th Fret team. I had to face facts, I’m not a wood craftsman, painter or wiring expert. I want to be proud of this instrument, so I decided to pay the high premium of a professional rebuild.

I’m going with a pearl white finish, all new gold hardware and electronics with super hot Seymour Duncan pick-ups. The only thing stock on this guitar will be the wood, and I’m ok with that. I already have an all stock Les Paul classic, and so now I’m building a custom hot rod.

After a brief Google search, I found some great info on the guitar. In the background, you’ll see a scan of a 1974 Epiphone catalog and below is an image of my model, the Crestwood ET-290, both images are from EverythingSG.com.
