Subvert Corporate Radio
June 4, 2007
Listener-supported Seattle radio station, KEXP, is currently in the middle of their Summer pledge drive. For those of you who live in a town with no radio outlet for finding independent music on a consistent basis, like myself here in Portland, KEXP is a shining beacon of subversion to corporate run media. They heavily support local music from around the Northwest and independent music from around the world.
If you have never heard KEXP, I recommend listening anytime during the weekday to John, Cheryl or Kevin. If you’re a regular listener, make sure to pledge your allegiance and give generously during this drive. By pledging money to KEXP, you are taking part in a grassroots movement of dissent against corporate radio.
Yes, it is that important and it is that serious. Take pride in your radio station and pledge.
